New Evolution – An Exhibition by Junky Projects

New Evolution Junky Projects

Vs. Gallery is excited to present ‘New Evolution’ – the latest exhibition by Melbourne artist ‘Junky Projects’ (Daniel Lynch).

Well known for his sculptural ‘junk sentinels’ posted on the streets of Melbourne and throughout Australia in their thousands, Daniel’s new exhibition sees him focus on the theme of ‘waste as art’.

Having spent many weekends and late nights scouring the city streets for unique discarded objects, he carefully reassembles them into amazing and whimsical sculptures and dioramas. His creative ‘recycling’ brings a new and unexpected form of life to an exhausted environment.

Whilst Daniel’s art is often noted for its elegant simplicity, in this new body of work he introduces a new complexity to a number of his sculptures. Using found objects such as cutlery, hubcaps, broken toys, doorknobs and kitchen utensils, his assemblages take on striking and poetic characters – each with a life of their own.

‘The New Evolution’ portrays an imagined dystopian future where the only existing life forms are composed of junk, refuse and the detritus of a decaying world. It is a prophetic statement for the future of life on our planet and a hope that existence must continue in some form or another.

Under the Seed Launch

Under the Seed sprouted in West Footscray, starting as an eco-friendly organically grown garden with bio-degradable seedlings for sale or swap. Little by little the garden blossomed from herbs, fruit and vegetables to adding plants, succulents and cacti.

The concept ‘Artist Planters’ originated after commissioning Blender Studios artist Ruskidd to paint a DIY garden gnome using his brilliant techniques, and from there the idea was born. Under the Seed works side by side with local Melbourne artists to produce one-of-a-kind planter boxers to liven up your home or garden.

Artist Planters ‘where nature meets the streets’.

Sprung! brings together the first series of collaborative ‘Artist Planters’ curated and presented by Under the Seed and featuring artists:

Mitch Walder – Ruskidd – DNART – Kenz – Poise – Le Grizz – Frosk – Junky Projects – Stopem – Crisis – Ohnoes – Chehehe – Silk Roy – Facter – Zoe Mullins

Join us for the opening of Sprung! on the last day of winter, Friday the 31st of August from 6-9pm with drinks supplied by the lovely folks at Young Henrys!
