The author of my favourite book as a child has sadly passed away age 83 in Danbury, Connecticut, from complications of a stroke. Maurice Sendak wrote and illustrated Where The Wild Things Are.

Adam Yauch better known as MCA from Beastie Boys has sadly lost his battle with lymph-node cancer and passed away at 47. MCA revealed he was fighting cancer in 2009 and the band stopped touring and postponed the release of their last album, Hot Sauce Committee.

They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame last month but Yauch, who had endured surgery and radiotherapy, was too ill to attend. MCA, Mike D and Ad-Rock formed the Beastie Boys in 1979.

R.I.P MCA – a true pioneer!
